This striking 9-year-old, 14.1 hand pony is ready for his next partner. Gus had a rough beginning in life and came to me 18 months ago a very reactive and anxious boy. I started him extremely slowly; groundwork for the first 6 months, and finally under saddle last June. I took him to his first show in August where he won Reserve Champion in Green Hunter and a month later my 11-year-old won Reserve Champion in Walk-Trot on him. He learns quickly and really wants to make the right choices for his rider.... (read more) In his ring work he is starting to come into a frame, and executing lateral moves and on the trail he has become willing and steady - he is regularly exposed to water, traffic, a tractor, dirt bikes, dogs, construction equipment - and handles himself very well. Gus needs a confident and steady handler and for that reason I would not recommend him for a child. He is really sweet and kind and has never done anything mean, but he still needs guidance on occasion, especially on the ground. He would make a wonderful Pony Hunter or Eventer. He has learned to accept clipping, bathing, trailering, blanketing and grooming. Gus is up-to-date on vaccinations, feet, teeth (just done this month), and Coggins. I would love to keep him, but already have too many horses and feel that there is a special partner out there for whom he will be the sole focus. This boy is special to me and I will be very selective about where he goes.
