Bella Run Equine is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the responsible rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of slaughter-bound horses. We also receive horses through surrender and in cases of neglect or cruelty. After a period of quarantine and staff evaluation, our horses receive attention from our veterinarian and farrier (and sometimes by an equine chiropractor) to bring their health to optimal. We further evaluate each horse's abilities and retrain as necessary.... We require references for the safety of each horse, and our buyers enter into a contract with us to further safeguard "adoptees."
Rachel and Zack Bendler established Bella Run in 2009 and moved the operation to their farm just southeast of Athens two years later. They rest their reputation on the truthfulness of their evaluations, thoroughness of retraining, and skill in helping their clients find the right horse for their situations.
