Antique sidesaddle. Made in Mexico, as evidenced by silver medallion on saddle horn"
("Estados Unidos Mexicanos"). Initials "J”, “P”, and “V” carved into off side
panel of saddle (see photo), otherwise no other identification noted on saddle - no
maker's mark. No history on this saddle when I purchased it a few years ago in a
Colorado antique store. The saddle is all leather and is double-rigged. As shown in
photos, it has the unusual addition of a rail on the right side as well as saddlebags.... (read more) There
is a small purse-like covered pocket just below the off side horn. The tree is in good
shape. There are a couple of areas (some of the top edge of the rail cover and edges of
the off & near side horn covering edges) that need repair and/or stitching, but otherwise
the leather is in fairly good condition.
Tree width: Top 5 ½ inches. Bottom 9 ½ inches
Seat: 17" from front of near side horn to rear of seat.
