Hunting season is here and for you packers now is the time to buy. I have up for sale 2 new 7x8 canvas manties 18 oz. #8 duck, unhemmed.
And for you packers that use Saw buck trees these would make for excellent top pack cover. These manties I prefer untreated as to not taint the meat during hunting season. This #8 heavy woven 18 oz per square yard canvas sheds water as if it was treated so I don't treat my canvas manties at all, but that doesn't mean you can't. I use these canvas manties on my decker pack saddle to secure my load in. On my lead mule I use a saw buck pack saddle using panniers and a mantie as a top cover. The mantie has other uses in camp as well. In camp I use the manties to cover my pack saddles and riding saddles from the weather. Also I'll lay a mantie on the ground, place my sleeping bag on one half and cover the sleeping bag with the other half for a quick lazy shelter for those getting to camp late nights. One summer in the Bob Marshall wilderness in Montana I made a sweat lodge using willow branches for a frame and then throwing the manties over the willow frame
making the sweat lodge. These canvas manties are for many uses not just on the pack
saddle and are heavy enough to last and last many a trip into the wilderness!
