Description:
Riding Lessons
Want to learn how to ride? Already have your own horse but want to build a better relationship with your horse? In my lessons you will learn how to handle the horse on the ground and under saddle. You will learn how to balance on the horse and you will learn how to control the horse using your hands, voice, legs, and seat. My goal is for you to have a fun time while learning how to communicate and control your horse. I have taken students from never riding before to winning in a gymkhana in just a few months.
You can either use one of my horses or you can bring your own. If you are having problems with your horse I can help you tune them up and decide if they are workable or if it is just not the right fit for you.
I teach western and offer basic riding lessons as well as specific lessons like barrels, poles, and gymkhanas. I specialize in children, but also am great with helping adults. I teach step by step and make sure they learn and get everything. My lessons are not tense or confusing and I want them to feel comfortable asking me questions. You or your child will learn to be a confident rider in no time.
Lessons are an hour long. We ride for approx. 30 minutes of it. We spend 15 minutes before to tack up and another 15 minutes after to cool off, untack, and bathe the horses.
Things you will learn in my program:
Safety-- How to be around a horse without being in danger
Balance-- I teach you how to ride with optimum balance
Control-- How to prevent a horse from spooking/running away and how to handle the situation if one does spook
Collection-- Teaching your horse how to give to the bit and how to collect through the body
RollBacks-- Learning how to prepare and turn around a barrel
Leads and Diagonals-- How to teach your horse to canter a nice circle and get the correct diagonal
Bareback
Emergency Dismounts-- How to fall off with as much grace as possible
Ground School-- How to lunge a horse and how to make your horse respect you on the ground
