I offer beginner lessons for both children and adults. I've been riding horses all my life, taking lessons with a grand prix dressage trainer, and take a great deal of pleasure teaching others what I have learned.
I begin by having the rider show me what they do know, if that happens to be truly nothing then we start from the very beginning at steering and cues. Then follow into the more difficult tasks. As a trainer I focus a great amount on balance and posture. If ones balance is not there then the horse has to balance both themself and their rider. Riders will begin with sitting trot, where the rider must be able to sit the trot, without the aid of stirrups. Then when sitting trot is well executed, then we move to posting trot. It is more simple but the correct balance is already aquired so anything from there will seem quite easy when it comes to balancing. Once this is mastered we move on to the more difficult tasks. i.e. getting the horse to be on the bit, followed by staying on the bit and flexed for the entire lesson period. When in control of your own body, it makes controlling the horse a much easier task!
