We offer a variety of training services, from colt starting, to tune-ups, we accept horses of all ages & training levels.
Our training philosophy here at Silver Shadow is fairly simple. We're here to help your horse be the very best that they can be.
From starting colts, to tune-ups, we instill a high level of respect and understanding between both the horse and the rider. Using gentle methods, our goal is to create a partnership.
Whether out enjoying the trails, or knocking out the competition in the show ring, you both are hard at work...And accomplishing that cohesive action, does not come without work.
That is precisely why we are here - To help you build (or perhaps repair) that bridge.
We offer a few different training options, to accommodate you & your equine friends needs best.
** Training at The Ranch **
General training, starting, finishing, and tune-ups in:
- Pleasure/Trail Horses
- Performance
- Barrel Racing
- Gymkhana
- Hunter Prospects
- Youth - 4-H
30 - 90 day programs (extended stays for full training welcome). Horses in for training are worked a minimum of 1 hour a day, 5-6 days a week.
Atmospheres include working:
In the roundpen - Groundwork, lunging, flexion work, yielding, ground-driving, etc.
In the arena - Rail work, ground poles, obstacles, desensitization, etc.
On the trail - Independent and with other horses.
By providing a variety or working situations, our goal is to produce well-rounded, balanced, versatile horses. A sound mind & body, and a desire to work, can take a horse anywhere, and this is where it starts.
All the benefits of a full-boarding facility are included in your horses stay for training. - Stall (choice of covered pipes or box - always cleaned at least 2x a day.), irrigated grass pasture turn-out, high quality Alfalfa & Forage fed 2x daily (Specialized Purina grain diets tailored to your horses needs available), daily grooming, blanketing if necessary, dry-turn out, and fly control (Spray AND fly masks.).
This is a private, gated ranch, with NO boarders coming and going. With only approved clientele visiting, and an 'exclusive' setting, you're horses privacy & safely is assured. There are multiple residence on the ranch, and there is ALWAYS someone on the property keeping an eye on things.
While your horse is here with us, enjoy one free lesson to keep up with what he/she is learning, and additional lessons/training with your horse is available if desired. As we're big believers of learning WITH your horse, you're welcome to come out and participate in the training process as much or as little as you'd like.
Rates start at $700 / mo.
Space is limited, call for availability.
* Horses can also be brought in for hourly or weekly training sessions or tune-ups. Lay-Ups are also welcome, rates starting at $10 a day.
** TRAINING AT HOME **
If for any reason you do not wish to send your horse away, we're able to travel to any private stables, boarding facility, or public arena in SLO Co.
Availability is limited, and prices are based on traveling distance/time.
