Perfromance Equine Dentistry - Each visit includes a detailed documented exam, identification and correction of dental malocclusions and the shaping and reshaping as necessary of certain teeth to prevent soft tissue damage to the cheeks and tongue. Dental malocclusions (mal=bad occlusions=contact) can occur in both the incisors and cheek. teeth, either type may interfere with. proper chewing, digestion and performance. Over time uncorrected malocclusions can lead to pain and possibly a loss of teeth, and an inability to chew hay and feed. The natural chewing process of horses leads to sharp teeth throughout the mouth in all horses and ponies.
