Woody is a 4 year old gelding, between 11-12hands. He is a palomino and white paint. He is part of the herd I bought last year at the Wildlife Safari in Kansas.
I had him cut and have had him broke. He is thin now from being ridden, but I have included a picture from this summer when he was chunkier so you can see his potential.
He has traveled more miles than most eight year old horses. When he travels he has a good pace if you ask for it, if not he just goes slow.... (read more) You can ask for trot and canter and he does not hesitate, but at the same time doesn't try to run off.
He is a bit hard to catch, but I think this will go away when he get to a home that can spend one on one time with him.
He is easy enough that just about anyone can ride him, though I feel he may not be suited for a child that does not know his way around a horse or a family that knows nothing about horses. For the simple reason he needs someone to just handle him a bit and love on him.
He is good with me now, but just hasn't had enough "desensitizing" and if spooked my kick out in defense. If it were summer my cure would simply be giving him bathes with the hose, this does wonders for horses! I can lift back legs and brush and all that without fear of being kicked, walk behind him no problem, but if a toddler came running and scrambling this may not be OK with him. There is NO spook or bite, rare or buck while riding.
He is a nice pony who just needs a tad bit more personal attention.
Dogs don't bother him and he will cross over anything, load, tie, tack wonderful. He would be an awesome trail horse (this is what he has been doing for the last two months)
I bought him to resale with a herd of 12 others to give them a job and purpose, so I have had him for quite a while so I could get him cut and let him heal before breaking him.
He has never been foundered and has good teeth, has no problem with ears and such.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
There is a craigs list ad in the Tulsa listings under the farm and garden section, you can pull him up by his name "woody" or search the Coweta listings. I have several other ponies available at this time. Lots more pictures on CL. 918-640-2516
