Spencer, IN: "Crystal" is a 2007 Cremello Quarter Pony Mare
Crystal (also known as "Crissy") is an adorable 13.3h/54in quarter pony mare. Cris would be a great all-around, pony club or 4-H horse. She can be ridden English (WTC + small jumps) or western, and also drives, and does all of that in a snaffle. No whip/spur necessary. There is absolutely nothing this pony won't at least try, and she's super versatile. She's still green over fences, but very willing to learn and happily trots right up to the jumps and takes you over them, no problem.... (read more) She does show quite a bit of scope; free jumped over 3ft3in. Has been trail ridden alone and in groups, opens gates, crosses water, etc. Takes everything in stride. Has even been through the Dairy Queen drive-thru! Not spooky, very sensible, not at all mare-ish. She can be turned out alone, with mares, with geldings, or in a mixed herd. She's currently stabled overnight and turned out during the day, but can be kept out 24/7. Would be suitable for a small adult (current rider is 5'4" and previous rider was 5'9") or a child who is in a program and has some experience. No bite, kick, rear. Not the typical nasty pony. Respectful of personal space, but very snuggly. Would stand all day to be petted and brushed. An overall pleasure to have around the barn. Super easy and straightforward to ride. During the summer I ride her bareback with just a halter down our driveway to the mailbox to get the mail. Can't say enough good things about her. She is definitely not the type that needs ridden every day, but is more than willing to work when asked. Sane, sound, VERY easy keeper, stands for vet/farrier, loads, ties, clips, UTD on everything. I am personally NOT a fan of Quarter Horses, but this pony is just wonderful. She's what I wish I'd had as my first horse. Could easily start out as a child's lead line pony that they could work their way up to short stirrup or pony club on. Crystal's price includes a UV fly sheet. Because of her cremello color, we prefer she be turned out with it in the warmer months, or at least have a paddock with some sort of shelter from the sun.
I originally bought Crystal as a lesson pony, but unfortunately my parents' divorce and time constraints at school force sale.
Priced at $1,200 before 1 January 2015. Price WILL increase with training and show experience.
