Whitehouse Ridge aka Gentry is an 8 year old OTTB who has been let down for a year. DO NOT let his age or price fool you, this is someones dream horse. Gentry has been let down and is working on building muscle. He has been lightly restarted on the lunge line and under saddle. Gentry is here to work and he is here to work well - he is extremely intelligent and quickly picks up on what you are asking. On top of being a quick thinker he tries incredibly hard, he wants to do what you ask and he wants to do it well.... (read more)
Gentry has gone over ground poles and popped over some small cross rails. He rides in a smooth snaffle and is not girthy or unpleasant about being tacked up. He is easy to catch in the field and will in fact walk up to you and drop his head in the halter. He is on cool calories for weight gain and that is it. No supplements really needed and he retired completely sound from racing after over 40 starts and $76,000 in earnings.
This gelding was bred in Kentucky out of one of the last Seattle Slew daughters bred on the legendary farm where Seattle Slew died. Gentry sold as a yearling for $120,000 and raced without innury for over 4 years. He has never had a step of lameness since I purchased him and holds shoes very well for an OTTB. He is on an 8-10 week shoeing rotation and sees the chiropractor every 10/12 weeks.
Gentry is a project who needs a steady riding program. When I purchased Gentry I worked a job where I could work him 5/6 times per week. I since moved and am currently in a position where I cannot give him this. He needs the routine and he thrives on it. He has been working with a trainer for the past 6 weeks lunging once or twice per week.
However I need to find him a home where someone can use him to his ful potential - he wants to work and he wants to work hard. Gentry does not bolt/rear/or buck, in fact I'm not sure he even knows how to buck. He will need an Intermediate rider with a trainer or an advanced rider looking to flip a horse quickly.
With 30/60 days of consistent work and retraining he will be ready to go and should be a quick flip for the right person or even someones dream horse at a steal of a deal. He is a favorite of my barn owner and she consistently praises his brains and temperament. Gentry is a thoroughbred and is sensitive to quick hand motions but is very trusting of his rider. He is brave and once he figures out what you're asking he'll do it right there and he'll do it to the best of his ability. Please email me for videos.
