11 YEAR OLD BLACK QUARTER HORSE GELDING NEEDS A GOOD FOREVER HOME - POSSIBLY A GOOD HORSE FOR WESTERN PLEASURE SHOWS OR 4H

15.2hh

ridden western

Soft and sweet boy with bedroom eyes. He will take you just about anywhere you want to go. We have climed up and out of the canyon at Northfork, trudged through two feet of snow, stood in the middle of a pond eating cat-tails, and been on tons of trail rides. Every year we go to the posse grounds and have socialized play days. He has no known health issues and no bad habits. He is broke broke broke but can be known to hop sideways if he gets startled. He doesnt buck or bolt, just a little hop. I am a very inexperienced rider and I simply think its funny, not scary - and it doesnt happen too often. Other then that, every single thing I have to say is positive. He is good in front, middle, or back. He is sure footed and brave. He is also big bodied and healthy. He is also very good for the farrier. I am not sure how to do video uploads but have a zillion pictures I can send. He was registered all the way up until 2005 when the original owner passed away and the papers were lost in the estate. ( I am the second parent) He is very good in the arena and when I bought him he was in the process of being trained for western pleasure. He is very quick on voice commands but may need a brush up as he hasnt been ridden too much lately. he just got out of three months of training and then sat for a month - she did arena and cows etc -

SHE WRITES

Anything that will help get him into a wonderful home.

First off....I rode him alot in the early spring. It seemed to me that he did alot better with spurs then without. Not big huge pokey rowels but just little spurs to give him that extra little "want to" lol

I rode him in all sorts of arenas while people were team roping and steer wrestling. I brought steers back down to the chutes with him. He side passes wonderfully so you can open and close gates from horseback. He also does wonderful rollbacks and can spin on his haunches. He did not like ropes but we worked with him and one of the last times that I rode him I was able to swing a rope off of him and even throw it.

I would say that his biggest issue isn't necessarialy "spookiness", he is not a spooky horse, it's just that he doesn't like things on the ground coming at him. Whether it's a wrapper on the ground blowing towards him or it's a feather blowing in front of him. He just does not like stuff on the ground but he doesnt over react or explode either which is good.

This always struck me as odd because he really is very well broke. He knows more then most people do so for something that usually only affects a green horse it's just weird.

He has a WONDERFULLY smooth lope and is awesome at flying lead changes. You can get a headset on him but he is very resentful of it and swishes his tail as he doesn't think that he should have to do that. I am sure it is uncomfortable for him because it forces him to use muscles that he normally wouldn't use. He is a total love and is easy to saddle, bridle and pretty much do anything with. We rode in one arena alot where the train came through RIGHT NEXT TO IT every 15 minutes blowing their horn. It never fazed him once. We hauled him everywhere and never once had a problem with him. He truly is an awesome horse.

I hope that helps Tracie. If you need to know anything else please feel free to ask. I want the same for him as you do and am willing to help in anyway that I can!

(Ps, I,the owner, never rode him with spurs as I dont believe in them - I like the pokey aspect and am not a huge get up and go person - I liked to mozee down the trail - my trainers approach with the spurs must have been to chase cattle or something - again to get more speed. )

WOULD BE GOOD FOR ADVANCED BEGINNER
