Additional Comments:
Dakota is ½ Quarter Horse, ½ Missouri Fox Trotter and will be 3 yrs. old in three months (July 18th). He does not foxtrot but he does have the SUPER SMOOTH rocking horse canter of the Missouri Fox Trotter breed. He currently stands at 15.1HH and is about 1,000 lbs. Dakota is extremely sweet and loves people. He leads, ties, trims, and catches easily. UTD on coggins, shots, and had his hooves trimmed on 4/11/08.
He has had five months of training under saddle and I will continue working with him until he sells. In addition to the basics, he has started picking up neckreining, sidepassing, and disengaging his hindquarters. I have also started training him to stop when you shift your weight back or say whoa. I have ridden him in both a snaffle bit and a sidepull hackamore. I have also done some natural horsemanship games with him and he did great. Dakota has a lot of speed and potential and is not for a beginner. He is an alpha horse and needs a confident, firm rider. He learns quickly and wants to please. I think he could go in any direction with further training (barrels, speed events, cattle work, etc.).
