Black Jack is a 4 year old 15hh Black Missouri Fox Trotter. I do not have his papers though I have information on both parents. Black Jack is the most intelligent, athletic, willing and personable horse I have had privilege to work with. He is the perfect gaited horse in that 1) He is VERY naturally gaited, as a rider you just use leg like on a non gaited horse and he maintains his gaits on his own, in and out of collection. 2) He is not hot or overly forward like some gaited horses can be. He will go out alone and in a group happily and he can go out with non gaited quarter horses easily and with no problem slowing his speed. Or, he will gait all day long with other gaited horses; his gaits are wonderful and very comfortable to ride. Black Jack has been camping on a picket line, loves water, I mean LOVES water; no problem with water crossings here! He does not kick or bite, can live in a herd, has great feet, he is currently shod in the front but he could easily go barefoot. Black Jack is a very interactive horse. He will talk to you while he is being saddled ( not cinchy) He loves to work! He practically bridles himself! He loves baths, loves to roll after and is very self confident, he'll stop drop and roll in situations that would have most horses stressed out. (No,not while being ridden). Black Jack has been taught to side pass to the fence, mounting block or tree stump for mounting, very handy! He does the spanish march with GREAT enthusiasm (He will do anything for a treat) He does it very well from the ground and we are transitioning to cuing for it from the saddle while riding, he's picking it up really quickly! He knows how to smile on cue, has a good start on a bow and will stand on a pedestal. He drinks from a bottle and will put the whole hose in his mouth. He has a great sense of humor! Black Jack can be ridden bareback in a halter and is a very good boy. He is quiet on the trail, not spooky. He has moved cattle, jumped, crossed bridges, you name it. He would be great for competitive trail. This horse is such an athlete! He canters BEAUTIFULLY on BOTH leads! Both leads are balanced, comfortable and natural feeling. He can do simple lead changes through his slow or fast gait, He can leg yield, bends and flexes both directions. He feels like a million bucks to an advanced rider or like a safe trail friend to the inexperienced rider. You've gotta come out and meet this character! He is one of a kind for sure!
