Well put together and a good mover. He has mostly been ridden in an arena or on the trail.... (read more) So far he has only been regularly ridden in a English saddle. He currently is being ridden with just a side-pull, but he has had a snaffle in his mouth a long time ago. He has a fast walk, trot, and canter, but has a lazy laid back streak (he got it from his mom) and occasionally doesn't want to go. He is usually pretty calm, but he doesn't like farm machinery going by on the rode. He was about five before I started him under saddle. Afterwards, he wasn't ridden for several years. Around 3 or 4 years ago, I had him worked with a couple of months by a trainer and then rode him real regularly for about a year. He has been ridden most weekends through the summer and he has been doing really well. I have several short videos of him in action that I can email you upon request.
He had broken tooth 8 years ago. The gap in his teeth has filled in as the teeth have moved together, but he still needs his teeth floated once a year.
His only vice, apart from the odd chewing of wood, is that he is food possessive. He can kick or bite if you get between him and his food. This could be worked on, but we have just stayed away from him while he is eating. He almost never acts this way unless food was involved. The rest of the time he is pretty sweet and easy going.
Due to time and money limitations, I am seeing if I can find him a better place with someone who can work with him more. Come and meet him in person and fall in love!
