Coda is a 3-year-old Appendix QH who would make a perfect trail or English horse. I bought & started him under saddle as a project last September. I spent last summer in the Clinton Anderson Academy & did the 10-day Fundamentals & 10-day Colt Starting clinics. I bought Coda as a project when I came home so I wouldn't forget what I learned on the ranch. I seriously thought about keeping him but I don't have the time for him.
He's 15.3hh and GROWING! We're thinking he may mature around 16.1. He is a beautiful dark red dun with a gorgeous multi-toned mane and leg barring. He knows the Downunder Horsemanship Fundamentals & some Intermediate. Very sweet, uncomplicated guy. He's been desensitized to everything, nothing bothers him. On his first trail ride he saw deer & turkey up close and it didn't faze him. He's never cared about clippers, tarps, or even inflatable snowmen or donkeys pulling carts. He even pulled a sled last winter. He has the movement and size to make a wonderful hunter under saddle horse.
I took him on a weekend trail ride in the hills in Wisconsin in October and he was fine wherever you put him in line. He crossed water and even covered bridges after being under saddle for a month, even though some of the more experienced trail horses had a problem with the bridge. I had him back in Wisconsin Memorial Day weekend & he rode down the trail like a dream.
He will stop off your seat, sidepass, front and back pivot, load, clip. I'm working on teaching him to round and go in a frame - would be a great English 4H show horse for an older kid. Watch YouTube video
