Islamorada 'Gabe' is a 2014 sBs colt by Ralando (Ramiro Z/Calando I /Cor de la Bryere) out of Sambuca (Samber). Gabe is a handsome perfectly marked bay and white pinto with powerful hindquarters and an uphill trot and canter. Not only will he be super flashy in the ring but he should be able to excel in anything from hunters and jumpers to dressage and eventing. He is handled daily and has a naturally bold and curious disposition and is a total pocket pony. This sweet boy can never get enough attention! He loves to be cuddled when he is taking a nap and will leave his mom's side and friends to come hang out with people to see what they are doing and get scratches. His phenomenal temperament makes him a fantastic candidate for an amateur yet flashy enough for a professional. Islamorada comes with a lifetime USEF number, registration with the sBs Belgian Sport Horse Registry for North America and his prices includes board until he is weaned. Islamorada is also eligible for Turtle Creek Equestrians' USEF hunter breeding discount program.
Ralando II is an imported Holsteiner stallion. A direct son of legendary Ramiro Z, his full pedigree is Ramiro-Calando-Romino, stamm 741. Ralando II's show record is impressive as he has gotten good ribbons from the Grand Prix Jumpers to the Adult Amateur Hunters. Ralando II competed in Germany as a young horse up to 1.3m. He was imported by Eduardo Braun as a seven year old and competed up to the Grand Prix level on the east and west coasts before becoming a schoolmaster for an adult amateur. In 2010, a change of ownership meant a change of discipline as Ralando II transitioned to the hunter world with amateur rider (now turned professional), Arly Golombek. The pair amassed top placings and championships as both a Regular Working and A/O Hunter at elite A-Circuit shows including WEF, Kentucky Spring & Summer shows, the Kentucky National, Capital Challenge, Pennsylvania National and the National Horse Show. A testament to his rideability and generous disposition is the fact that before retiring from competition, Ralando II was competing & winning in the Adult Amateur divisions with students of Arly's.
Ramiro descends from the famous male linage combination Rainmond - Ramzes x - Rittersporn xx. Ramzes represents one of the basic bloodlines on which Holsteiner breeding has been founded in which Ramiro was the most popular distributor. Ramiro's dam is Valine, who acquired international fame as a show jumper by the name of Corrale under Lutz Gossing. She is a daughter of the reputable thoroughbred Cottage Son (one of the most influential Thoroughbreds in Holsteiner horse breeding), who became famous through his son Consul. A very influential part of modern horse breeding played Cottage Son as damsire. So important stallions like the great Ramiro (Holsteiner by Raimond-Ramzes x Cottage Son) and Lord (Holsteiner by Ladykiller x Cottage Son) have Cottage Son as their damsire. Ramiro's dam is from linage 776 one of the most valuable Holsteiner female blood lines going back to Achill and Edelbert. Ramiro Z's performance as a sporthorse and breeding sire earned him the titles 'Stallion of the Century' and 'King of Sires'. Ramiro Z progeny can simply be described with one word: sublime. Ramiro sired Fatinitza whom won numerous show jumping competitions and later mothered the Zangersheide stallion, Almiro Z. Ramiro's then produced three stallions: Rinaldo, Rio Negro (Grand Prix dressage horse) and Ronald, who was for years the most popular stallion in Holstein. Ronald sired five licensed sons and more than a hundred top broodmares, many of whom became mothers of sires like Alcatraz, Libero, Lord Incipit, Larno, Le Grande. At the Zangersheide Stud of Leon Melchior, Ramiro was bred to the foundation mare, Heureka. Their daughter RATINA Z was ridden by Piet Raymakers and Ludger Beerbaum, won World Cup Finals, the European Championships, the Grand Prix of Aachen, individual Olympic Silver, double Olympic Team Gold, Team Gold at the WEG, and twice team gold at the European championships. Argentina Z another Heureka daughter (by Alme) produced with Ramiro the stallion sons: Rebel I Z, Rebel II Z, Rebel III Z and Rock Z. In the Netherlands his sons Almiro, Armstrong, Bernstein, Dageraad, Damiro, Elmero and Zeoleit were approved. Numerous sons and daughters conserve and pass on the valuable genes that stand for rideability and jumping talent. Therefore, it is not a surprise to find Ramiro's children and grandchildren at the top levels of showjumping and dressage. It is simply impossible to mention all his successful progeny.
Cor de la Bryere (1968-2000), nicknamed 'Corde', is one of the most influential sires in modern warmblood breeding. His sire the French Thoroughbred, Rantzau, was bred to be a jumper being a descendent of the enormously influential Bay Ronald. On the bottom side, Cor de la Bryere was royally bred, out of Quenotte B, by Lurioso a son of the most influential Precipitation son, Furioso. In French jumping circles, Furioso had been a sensation, siring the 1964 Olympic gold medallist, Lutteur B and the world showjumping champion of 1968, Pomone B. Lurioso was himself a sire of international showjumpers.
Described by breeders as a 'gift from heaven,' Cor de la Bryere has been a especially successful stallion that revolutionized jumping horse breeding, as he passes on his incredible bascule, scope, and jumping technique. Cor de la Bryere also passed on his willingness and trainability. .He is one of the most influential stallions in modern Warmblood breeding and can be seen in more than 70% of modern Holsteiner bloodlines. He was recognized as the 'Reserve Stallion of the Century' second only to Landgraf I. 'Corde' has produced many top-level competition horses including Contrast, the three-day Eventer, the international show jumpers, VDL Corland and Costa, plus the great 1988 Olympic Dressage Silver Medalist, Corlandus. He also sired Calando I through IV, Caletto I, II, and III, Calypso I through V, and Cordino. His offspring tend to have good free shoulders along with higher knee action making them very suitable for jumping. - Not to mention important stallions like Cathago Z and Burggraaf - who are out of Cor de la Bryere mares.
Samber is the World-wide Legend and undisputed King of the Coloureds. He is the greatest far reaching and most influential of all Pinto warmblood sires. In 1979 Samber passed his 100 day performance test, with a 10 for character and temperament, he gained an overall 160.2 points and an A Certificate. Samber proved himself in competition in the early to mid eighties and reached Grand Prix in Dressage and Z Level (BSJA Grade A) in Showjumping. Samber's had a huge influence as an International performance sire. Not just the stallion descendants of Samber, but also the mares and the geldings are proving themselves in all the Olympic disciplines. West Star, the International 4 Star mount of Nina Melkonian is his best representative to date in so far as eventing is concerned, whilst Art Deco has reached Grand Prix Dressage in the USA for Liz Hall and Silverwood Farm. Dim Bam Bino, born 1988, by Branco Ox, out of Ange by Samber, represents Greece in International Dressage, United Colours '91 by Samber out of a Rigoletto/Rames mare won in Showjumping, whilst Pintofields Iedante I, a KWPN Keur mare has won over 150 Dressage points in Great Britain. The above is just a few of the better known 'Sambers' and there are; many others competing at all levels throughout Europe and the USA. Samber's dam Tina D, the black tobiano Preferent mare by Ordonnans, a son of Ornament, is also a legend in her own right. In 1983, at the age of 19 she paraded at the UTV National Mare Show with some of her offspring including Samber. At that time she had brought 16 foals into the world, several of which are tobianos. Samber's sire Pericles was born in 1962. British bred from the West Grinstead Stud, he stood for one year in 1968 under the H.I.S. scheme, and prior to this ran 14 times, won two races and was placed in three. In 1976 he attained Keur status and in 1977, Preferent and died in 1987.
