Ledyard's Princess Lila (Astronomicallee x Wintop's Princess Vanity) turned three last month and has been in work under saddle since November. Prior to this, Lila was being driven as a single out in the fields as well as in the ring. She has been trained using Clinton Andersons natural horsemanship since she was a yearling, and is one of the best we have had go through the program. She is incredibly sensitive and reactive with the ground work, and very impressive with her precision.... (read more) Lila is very smart mare, and as much as you put into her you will get back out.
Under saddle, Lila can walk trot canter, side pass, turn on haunches and turn on forehand, back, and she is learning her flying lead changes and counter canter. She knows how to soften her jaw and submit to pressure, be it from the riders hands or legs. She goes well in a hackamore and also in a French link snaffle.
Lila has been racking up miles both under saddle and driving through fields, woods, and water. She likes water more than our other 3 year olds - she will walk right in and often wants to walk up the stream rather than simply cross it. She climbs ditches and overall has a very adventurous attitude on the trail. In addition she has been worked on the main roads with tractors and farm trucks whizzing by. Lila is not suitable for a child at this point- she is not disobedient, but she has energy and looks for ways to use it.
Additionally, Lila has great breeding and potential as a solid Morgan broodmare.
