Trusty Rusty is a handsome chestnut 9 yo Arabian/Mustang cross gelding. He is a former endurance racing horse, Rusty and his 85 year old owner competed in their last race in a couple of years back and took home 10th out of over a hundred riders. He has a cute Arab type head, big sweet eyes and is around 15 hh. This guy has been there, done that! He is Broke, Broke, Broke! There isn't anything he hasn't done or won't do. He ties, clips, bathes, stands for the farrier, loads in a trailer like a champ and even hobbles. I have taken him in water as high as his chest and he would go higher, he will cross bridges, go through tunnels, back, sidepass, doesn't mind mountain bikers and is as surefooted as a goat. I have chased cows on him, he can be ridden bareback with nothing but a halter. He will go out alone or with a group and doesn't seem to care if he's in the front, middle or back of the pack. He is safe and simple to ride, the girl in the video (there's a link at the bottom) wearing the pink helmet is on ten years old! Rusty currently has shoes on the front because we are in a very rocky area but could easily go barefoot somewhere with softer ground and does great. He can safely be ridden on streets, I have actually ridden this horse alongside the 91 freeway and he never even batted an eye at the cars and semis whizzing by us 20 feet away. He is sound and healthy, has nice comfortable gaits. He is not hyperactive or crazy in any way but is not very well suited for someone that wants to just poke on down the trail, as an ex-endurance horse this guy likes to cover ground. He has a nice fast walk and, when asked for, a smooth forward trot and canter. He would be a great for trail trial competitions, camping, competitive trail riding or even extreme cowboy racing!
This is not a horse for a person who wants to ride once in a while, he enjoys getting out 3+ times a week and hitting the trail but don't worry if you miss a week he doesn't lose his brain. He would be a phenomenal horse for a horse crazy teen, or anyone that wants a fun, energetic and safe trail mount. He is safe enough to throw the kids, guests or even grandma on once in a while. Asking only $3200 but he is worth so much more. Horses like this do not come up for sale often. Price Negotiable to perfect home.
