Kitty is a sweet, sweet filly, but she is every bit a three year old! Retired off the track in the fall of 2013, she has had plenty of time to let down and be a horse and enjoy living life, and does she enjoy it!
Kitty is turned out with mares and geldings during the day, loves to kick up her heels and play, and loves being outside. No vices in a stall, and is happy in overnight.
We've only ridden Kitty a few times. She was NOT naughty and did nothing really wrong. She starts off a little unbalanced until you warm her up, and then she's actually pretty nice. I prefer to lunge her a little or take her out and go right into a trot for a few minutes to warm her up, but with the ground being frozen or muddy all winter, she's not going to get a lot of saddle time.
Kitty is a fun horse. She is sweet. She has a personality. She is barefoot, up to date on shots and coggins, stands cross tied, bathes, loads, ships, stands for the farrier (she LOVES our farrier in fact), and is generally easy to work with. She has NO vices.
We just don't have suitable footing to work with her under saddle right now, and want to see her adopted by someone who will enjoy having her as a little project, whether they ride her now, or start her back in the spring. She is NOT suitable for beginners or small children as she is young, green, and full of energy, but she could be a heck of a lot of fun for someone with some experience with young horses, especially TBs.
Full disclosure: Kitty does have a chip in one knee but is 100% sound for all flat work, and likely low-level occasional jumping after she's grown up a bit more.
$2.00/mile one way.
