3 year old silver dapple Shetland pony gelding ASPC registered. Born March 2011. I measured him at 39" at the withers (about 9 3/4 hands) and about 325 lbs. He is an excellent halter prospect, will set up for halter, his breeding goes way back to numerous champions in halter. Sired by Bristol San Juan whom was named the 2002 National Grand Champion Stallion, he is the horse pictured. Additionaly he will make an excellent driving prospect, very good mover!... (read more)
He loves people and is very respectful unlike most ponies. I can pick up his feet no trouble, stands for farrier perfect and loads in small two horse trailer when asked. Pretty good at pivoting considering I havn't done that alot with him. He learns very fast! Works off of pressure very well! He is not spooky, first time with plastic sack was able to rub it all over him within 5 mins using pressure and release. Second time only took maybe 2 mins. It you are not fimiliar to what I mean by pressure and release I can explain when you come out and look at him. He is not saddle broke, nor have I started him on driving. His price would be higher if he was.
The only reason I am selling him is because I don't have the time or room for him. I love this guy and he will make an excelent foundation halter and driving horse. Though I am asking alot less then what he is worth, I am not going to just sell him to just anyone. He must go to approved home only, someone that is going to take good care of him.
***He will not go to a home where he will have any more then 65 lbs on his back, this includes the weight of the child AND saddle. This means he will only make a lead line pony for kids no older then 3 or 4 years old depending on their weight. He is much better off being a cart pony. Ponies can pull alot more weight then they can handle on their backs. Again he is only 325 lbs and 9 3/4 hands, also not a big boned stout guy like most ponies.
