Off the track since January 2013, in training since October 2013.
Pete is currently going walk, trot, canter solidly. He is working on leg yields and lead changes. This boy is very light in the bridle. He is also very forgiving and does not get offended with loss of balance from rider, or a stern request. Very quiet and level headed. He has a good bit of trail experience, and has proven himself to be brave in the face of deer and turkey.
He loads, trailers, ties, stands in cross-ties, does not move for being tacked up, lowers his head and opens his mouth for the bit, stands rock solid for the farrier and the dentist. He fine with being in a stall and does not weave or pace or crib. He goes well both in the ring and trail and can lead or follow. You can work him consistently and he is more than happy to do his best to figure out what you are asking for, and if you are not able to get on him for a couple of weeks, he will be just as quiet and steady as the last time you were on him.
I am convinced Pete would make the perfect family horse. He has happily given pony rides to my 4 year old son. He enjoys Dressage, and would be able to jump with some work. Possible Junior Hunter prospect.
UTD on spring vaccinations, teeth, hooves, the works!
