AQHA Registration Number: 3510145 Foaled 4/18/1986 Here is a link to her original owner/trainer Elaine Coller - Shadow is the grullo mare sold in 2001 - it just does not look like her. The black horse running barrels, roping and in costume is a brother to Shadow and Black Country Zeta is also closely related. There is a picture of her next to Hailbop and the Buckskin Tobiano "Aztec Music" is out of a sisterhttp://www.bluequestfarm.com/collerprofilepage.html Here is a website with Shadows full brother. Below is Shadows pedigree. http://www.dunbetchaquarterhorses.com/stallionstory.html Here is a link to a video of Shadow on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3iIrPs9Pqk Once the video is displayed click on watch in high quality. Shadow is a 12-year-old registered dun quarter horse. She is approximately 15.2 hands. We have had Shadow since the summer of 2007 when we agreed to board her for a friend who was in the process of joining the Peace Corp. We enjoyed her so much that we planned on keeping her ourselves, but we have gotten very involved in Icelandics (one is in foal now) and realized that keeping her would over commit ourselves. We also believe that she will be the perfect horse for someone and we hope to find that match as her talent is being wasted with us. In my limited experience with horses I believe Shadow will be a great horse for a beginner rider who is timid of horses or an intermediate rider looking for the next horse to grow with. Her temperament makes her great for an intermediate rider or as a child’s first horse. She is rock solid on the ground and on the trails. Since we have had her, she has never spooked, bitten, bolted or displayed any dangerous behaviors. She has walked over flapping tarps, through ponds 4 feet deep, and even pulled my daughters on a toboggan in a full canter with a sled skipping behind her! What I love most about her is this unflappable demeanor. My daughters, age 10/12 love to ride her bareback with just a halter and lead rope and Shadow seems to enjoy this as well! When we began looking for a horse, our main objective was to spare no expense to find a horse for our children that we could trust would not create a fear of horses like I had when I was a kid. We found that in Icelandics, but we also found it in this Q Horse. Finding a horse like Shadow makes owning a horse a real joy and can foster an incredible life-long relationship filled with rich and rewarding experiences. For intermediate riders: Elaine Coller trained her out west. When asked about Shadows training, Elaine wrote: “Shadow became one of the family when she was a yearling and spent her first year learning to lead and play in the pasture with my other young stock. I like to start all my young prospects at the end of their 2yr old year in the fall. As a 3 and 4 yr old I continue their arena training and lots and lots of trail riding. By the time my western horses are to the age of 5 yrs they should all be going in a curb and running a nice reining pattern with stops, spins, roll backs, and lead changes. (More of a ranch horse pattern vs. today's competition reining) I like to have a horse that is well rounded that I can barrel race, work cattle on the ranch, take to a ranch horse competition or just trail ride." Shadow has had a lot of western training (roping reining, barrel racing, ranch work) as mentioned above. When a woman in Syracuse purchased her, she began her training in dressage so she has had English training/experience as well. Recently a potential buyer asked if Shadow had jumped. I guessed no, but I have a friend who rides hunt seat and she agreed to give her a try. I have a video of that first try and the link is above. She did very well and Judy said she thought that she must have jumped before. Shadow has done a little bit of everything and her solid training background is evident. She is definitely rusty as we use her solely as a pleasure trail horse and tend to ride our Icelandics more often. Shadow is up to date with shots/worming meds, has no known health issues and will be vet checked prior to leaving our home. Visits may be scheduled by calling 315-368-4249. Shadow will be sold to an approved home only.
