Rufio is offered for adoption by Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society.Rufio came to BEHS as part of a neglect case, and both of his parents are branded BLM Mustangs. Rufio had not been handled prior to coming to BEHS. His foster home taught him to be caught, lead, stand tied, and load. He doesn't seem to be scared of anything, but he is a very strong-willed horse, and he's not for a timid rider/handler. His foster home has been working with him, and he's really improving.... (read more) He competed in the Chase the Equine Dream Competition in June 2012, and since then they've been going on trail rides. This horse loves getting out and doing something - for the right rider, he would scale mountains or swim oceans! He could be an excellent endurance horse, competitive trail horse, or possibly ranch horse. In February 2013, trainer Mark Lyon worked with Rufio for two weeks. He had him walking, trotting, and loping in an arena, crossing trail obstacles, and going on trail rides. Rufio is an insecure horse who needs a human who can be a leader. When he feels insecure, he often acts out, and he's going to need an experienced rider. Rufio is going to be phenomenal for an adopter who spends time with him and gives him a job.
