"Artemis" is a four year old Paint Draft Cross gelding. He currently stands at 17.1hh and should finish at 17.2hh. Artemis is a big sweetheart and just an all around gentle giant. He's fantastic to work around and great in the barn. He's very patient and kind. He has great manners and will stand all day on the trailer, on crossties, to be bathed, groomed, tacked, for the farrier, etc. Under saddle he carries the same kind qualities. Artemis will stand at the mounting block and has great manners under ttack.... (read more) He is currently schooling walk/trot/canter and has been lightly started over fences. He is a slow and steady ride with a nice, consistent trot. He does take a crop to canter in the ring, but is fine without it out on the trails. He's used to being ridden in spurs and keeps a nice pace. He has a soft mouth and great "whoa". Artemis has also been extensively trail ridden and is best out of the arena. He's a solid guy who is not spooky and just goes along with the group. He's happy being ridden on a loopy rein and isn't going anywhere quickly. Artemis can be ridden once a month or every day and is always the same ride. No buck/rear/bolt. He would be the ideal horse for the weekend warrior or husbands/guests horse. We can see fox hunters enjoying this horse for hill topping as well. He is big enough to carry a larger rider with no problems and will stand patiently with a rider all day long. Artemis is also broke to drive double and is safe with traffic/farm machinery. He's an easy keeper and currently lives out. He is shod due to our footing trail riding but has gone barefoot in the past and was fine. He has no vices and is 100% sound. Good home is a must! Price negotiable to the right home and serious inquiries.
