Up for sale is a wonderful quarter-horse type Appaloosa mare. She brings into the ring a great work ethic and a safe attitude.
Blondie can be ridden both english and western, though she seems to prefer the former. She rides extensively off of seat and leg and has a soft, responsive mouth. She doesn't neck rein, though she rides well enough off other aids to fake it well. She is currently being ridden walk, jog, trot, and canter, and has gone over poles without issue.... (read more)
She ties for grooming and having her feet picked, LOVES getting baths and having her mane and tail brushed and braided and generally being doted on, and ground ties for being tacked.
She doesn't have many trail miles, but the few times I've had her out she's shown herself to be very brave and offers little to no spook at new obstacles she's faced with, which have included a big red boat, cars of all shapes and sizes, trucks pulling big rattling farm equipment, a UPS truck, and bounding deer and rabbits. The most she's ever done with me faced with any of these is stop and perk her ears up.
Blondie is a bit forward in the saddle, though she has good breaks. She both lowers her head to bit pressure and moves forward and off leg very well, and if she senses that you are nervous about something she'll take care of you. She has about 40 days training on her at the moment and is not totally finished, but has proven herself to be very smart, safe, and willing, and would work best with an advanced beginner who is in a regular lesson program. She loves being handled and fussed over, and the more time you spend with her the sweeter she gets. She'd be a perfect for someone looking for a horse for ponyclub or 4H.
Her training will continue until she is sold, and the price will be changed as time goes on as she masters various other skills.
