Wanda is a spotted draft mare (not gaited), is about 10yrs old, and nearly 16hh or so (though I have not put a stick on her). We purchased Wanda this past spring for our lesson program and she is simply too big of a horse for our young campers. We would like to find her a more suitable home with a rider who is more appropriate in size.
Wanda has a wonderful, loving personality and seeks attention. She has previously been involved in parades and enjoys fox hunting. She rides well in the arena but because of her size, tends to take advantage of small riders. Wanda's favorite speed is walk or halt and she has no plans to go anywhere quickly. Wanda would be great for a beginner adult rider, especially a man, as she is gentle and quiet. Despite her relaxed manner, she would love a fox hunting home as that is what she enjoyed in her recent past.
Wanda is currently turned out on grass round bales with mares and geldings. She is not mare-ish and is an easy keeper. She is ridden both english and western and is currently being ridden in a D-ring snaffle. It appears that she may have had foals in the past as would likely throw large, robust foals. I do not know if she is broke to drive.
Wanda is UTD and does not currently have shoes, though she has had them in the past. She is being offered for sale at this price because she does have a slight unsoundness in her left front. However, it does not affect her usefulness for light riding and she is definitely serviceabley sound. We will continue using her for our trail program and in riding lessons until an appropriate home is found.
I only list her as a 3 in temperament due to her large size as she is not an ideal mount for small, beginner children.
