AQHA 1999 Skips Roan Reno, 16.2-3H Tall, Dun Roan Gelding. He is FINISHED, Solid and as Honest as the day is long as a team roping or trail riding horse. I bought Reno for my 4yr old daughter, but he is just really to big for her. I`m worried that she is going to fall off him and break something. He is really gentle with her, but she has to pull him around, because she is like a flee setting on a dog. With children 6yrs to 10yrs old he is more responsive, but still lazy.... (read more) With a adult he will get up and go and move around off your legs and rein. He was a Autistic girls horse for 2yrs up till 2yrs ago when he was sold to the people I bought him from. The people bought him for their 7 now 9yr old daughter that was scared of horses, to learn to rope off of and he built her confidence and taught her how to rope. She moved on to a faster horse and that's when I bought him after my 4 year old daughters horse was retired due to ring bone. I bought him because he is everything and more that I needed for my daughter, but he is just in reality to tall/big for her. I would love to see Reno go to a home for another child to learn to rope off of or for a beginner adult. I do not want him to go to a practice home where he is just a back-up horse that will be roped off of 20 or 30 times a night. He is to good of a horse to be treated like that and needs no tuning on. He is finished and solid. He is quiet in the box and is happy walking or trotting out after a steer or running out if you are at a jackpot or something. I am sure with the life he had been used for and being a rodeo horse that he will have some form or something of arthritis like any horse his age that has been used. That does not mean that he is crippled, because he is not, but does mean it wouldn't hurt to put him on some joint supplements if you will be hauling him every week to rodeos. Reno has never had to be given bute and has never been injected. He will not be a Pro Caliber Horse, but will put you in the money and could still win you buckles or a trailer. He is more for a beginner or novice roper.
