This name suits him since his sire is located in Canada, and his dam was sent up to Canada to be bred and foaled out, and what came of the breeding was an all-black colt. Therefore, 'dark, with no light' in Canadian Inuit translates into "Tartok".Tartok is a nicely put together colt. He has a very short back, good shoulder, a perfect gypsy butt and overall balance. He has 4 solid black legs all the way to the ground, with just a small star as the only white on him. Tartok is a happy boy, he is very curious and inquisitive and loves to see what you are doing. He has the traditional heavy build that is hard to find here in the States, which is what I personally prefer. He comes from a background of great Gypsy horses.Tartok's sire, Alaskan Winter, has a strong background sired by Vansilo and out of Arctic Winter (who is 1/2 sister to The Lottery Horse). Alaska goes back to lines of Billy Gaskin Horse, The Roadsweeper (UK), and The Paddy Horse giving some great bloodlines down to Tartok .Tartok's dam, Blue Feather, was imported as a 10 year old from the wonderful Coates Gypsy in the UK.Tartok has good ground manners, is easy to catch and halter, easy to pick up feet, stands for brushing/grooming, he loads and trailers with no fuss, is good for farrier and vet. He has not had any further training yet but will begin driving training in spring 2013. Price will increase with training. This boy is SUPER SWEET! My loss is your gain. I am only offering him for sale because he is too tall for my program (will mature 14-14.2hh) and I don't want to see such a magnificent boy stand around in the pasture unused. He deserves to be SHOWN!!! Tartok is a very flashy boy, he has a presence to him that everyone is drawn to when they meet him. He is the families favorite horse here, including the children!
