MCHs Mission is to help people of all ages in their development of natural and classical horsemanship skills through an experiential and educational horse rescue and rehabilitation program. To help others achieve an absolute union with their horse on the ground and/or when they ride. To help others achieve a balanced and positive energy between them and their horse. Our mission is accomplished through direct involvement of youth, adults, and the community.
We have the KNOWLEDGE, TIME, and MOTIVATION to teach you and your horse to be a strong and comfortable team on the ground and in the saddle. Walk~Trot/Jog~Canter/Lope~ Gallop, whichever gait you prefer and however you say it. You should come visit, ride, have lunch, do yoga, whatever to have a good time in good energy with good horses at MC Horsemanship. Take the leap of faith into horsemanship. You might be surprised what happens. You might just gain a new connection with a horse, nature, and even yourself while you are here whether thats for your first visit, your second lesson, a trail ride for your birthday, or maybe while you watch and/or participate in a training clinic at MC Horsemanship.
Natural Horsemanship is a mindset, it is a new way of being with horses. It is developing a more natural & closer relationship with your horse. It also means exploring alternative therapies that can improve you and your horses quality of life.
Our training methods provide a foundation for the horse by cultivating balance, suppleness, flexion, and mental focus over time. This strong foundation enables both horse and rider to progress more competently into their desired riding discipline. MCHs Lessons enhance awareness of your bodys symmetry, while also revealing your imbalances. The horse will provide feedback for the rider who has learned to listen and understand the horse through the mirroring of his energy and rhythm.
We always begin training horses on the ground. We never hop in the saddle on a horse we dont know. We usually work with the horse on the ground until we gain his/her trust and respect. We do this by catching, leading, tying, grooming, lungeing, desensitizing, and spending the time with the horse daily. We learn the horses personality, character, and disposition. We focus on the horses energy level and connect with his rhythm pattern within each gate. All this will develop your PSYCHOLOGICAL and PHYSICAL UNION with the horse.
One of our favorite horse professionals Stacey Westfall says building a great relationship with a horse is not all that different from building a great relationship with a friend or dog or any other being on this planet. Think about great friendships you have had during your lifetime. One of the big components is T-I-M-E. Great relationships might start with just an occasional thing but for them to remain great (thinking about mine and Michaels great long-term relationship) they take TIME.
It takes TIME to form better communication with your horse, you know you are two very different species. Its like trying to learn a new language for both of you. Light hands and leg cues are very important in the communication process. Less resistance between you and your horse must be accomplished before you can form a great relationship. We learned about these 3 Rs from JP which are: Relax, Reflex, and Reward. You can achieve less resistance by relaxing and concentrating on the energy flow as you ride. You can also achieve it by having better communication through verbal AND nonverbal cues with your horse. Your energy and body language must match that of your horse in order for you to move as a bonded creature. We strive to become united with our horses in a spiritual, physical, and psychological way. IN TIME our horses will be more relaxed and willing to please because they will be more comfortable with the relationship with their handler because there is no pain or resistance involved.
When the horses we train become good horses then we have saved the lives of many once unwanted horses. ~Chanoah
