If you really want to help a horse in need of a forever home after years of dedicated service, Spike is your boy!
Spike is a very sweet 23yr old Appaloosa gelding standing approximately 15.1. Spike was a wonderful beginner lesson horse for years, was great on trails, and was used in a therapeutic riding program as well. Despite losing an eye several years ago, he was always a favorite because of his willingness and because he always took very good care of his riders. Now that he is getting older, Spike has some arthritis and is ready to retire; and while he shouldn't be ridden, he can still do occasional lead line rides for children. Spike is very affectionate, loves attention, and will keep you laughing with his quirky personality. He does best with geldings, and he really enjoys his equine buddies so he would not do well alone. Spike is a very special horse who has taken wonderful care of his riders all these years; now he deserves to be the one who is taken care of. Will you be the one to give him a loving forever home?
**Special Note-24/7 turnout would be best for Spike**
Spike will be adopted to an approved home only.
References, an adoption fee, and an adoption agreement are required.

Friends of Lord Stirling Stable - Friends of Lord Stirling Stable School Horse Retirement Program - Mission Statement:
The Friends of Lord Stirling Stable School Horse Retirement Program was established in 2003 as a means to find suitable new homes for horses retiring from the Lord Stirling Stable lesson program. The program helps to ensure that our retiring horses, which have worked so faithfully for us, continue to be loved and well cared for, even with their limitations. The Program maintains a fund to be used to cover costs of board and care for retiring horses until a suitable home can be found. This program helps to ensure a bright future for our school horses.
Please visit our website for up to date information on the horses available for adoption as well as some of our success stories. To date, 40 retired school horses have found their forever home through our program.
