Santana is a 19 year old Shire that is now being offered for sale. He is a very broad 16.1H, black with four white socks and a star w/connected stripe. He does best when handled regularly (at least once a week) and he needs an experienced draft home. He has a recent negative Coggins and is UTD on vaccinations, worming and teeth floating. His feet will be getting trimmed again soon (no stocks needed).
He is pasture boarded 24/7 with a run-in shed and does share the pasture with other horses. He is normally a big teddy bear but does have his moments just like most other horses. Under saddle he is on the lazy side and will not run off but can be a little stubborn at times. He stands quietly to be groomed and tacked up. He will tolerate being stalled for a few hours, such as for vet or farrier appointments, and he does cross tie. Although he is not perfect about picking up his feet, he is pretty darn good for a big boy who has not been handled much the past year. He is currently boarded in Leola PA.
All of the photos shown in this ad were taken during the month of August 2012 with the exception of the one that shows that he is black when not so bleached out by the sun. That one was taken this past May. You can also see his videos under saddle at Vid 081212 Trot to Canter With John D Santana - VID 081212 Trot With John D
