Wow, what a guy!! Sampson is a Percheron/standardbred cross that is just a BIG baby at heart. He is a little over weight, but not bad, he is just a big boned horse. He is as good a riding horse as he is a driving horse. He can be ridden by a beginner, but with his size I would not recommend him for a first time horse owner! He is a great trail horse as he is not spooky at anything. He will go anywhere that you ask him to go. He is a little on the lazy side, and will walk, trot and canter with a lot of leg. He is very quiet to work around in the barn, and you can walk right up to him in the pasture. He loves attention and loves to be around people. He is wearing shoes all around because we drive him on the road. He has good solid feet and could go barefoot if you wanted. He will trail ride out alone or with a group. He does well with other horses in the pasture, and is not the pack leader. He does well on just hay, and will continue to do well on just hay. He stands well for the farrier and to be clipped or washed. He is a great driving horse, and anyone can drive him. He stands well to be hitched and stands well while driving.
