Phoenix left the track in July and was started under saddle in September. The rider in this video is a Jr. rider and this is her first time on her back. I don't know how much I can emphasize that NOTHING phases this mare; flowers, children running, cats jumping out, she just does not care.
Her first show, she went over all the jumps asked of her even though she'd never seen a hunter jump in her life. This video is the first time she was ever cantered over a jump, she's honest as they come. The video is a little dated as she now consistently jump 2'3" and as high as 2'6". She's starting lateral work and work on her changes. She's a quick study and I expect she'd make a great advanced beginner horse in another 6 months, she's currently fine for an intermediate rider and would be great for a JR exhibitor to finish up with the help of a trainer.
She had a knee chip removed as a 2 yo. and was given proper rest before being returned to the track where the trainer stated that she just was never keen to run so she left the track before a race. She has had no issues jumping or being in regular work for me at all. Her price has been lowered to account for this.
