^We will be showing at the Pink Derby this Saturday Augest 25th in Milford^
I am reluctantly offering my 7 yr old gelding named Zii for sale. He stands a solid 15hh, is 110% broke English and western, and loves the lime light.
Zii has been a huge part of my life for the last year and half. I wouldn't be surprised if he has more miles than my car, as I have been able to trailer him all over the state for things like camping, exploring parks' new trails, swimming in different beaches, and hunter/jumper open shows.... If you're looking for personality, you've found it. Zii's personality is huge, and his ego is probably even bigger. He loves getting all the attention, and is the first one in the pasture to greet you. He has great ground manners as he responds excellently to pressure and respects your space. Zii lives on 20 acres, and one of his cool quirks is that when you whistle he comes. Whether he is 10 ft away from you, or on the far side of the pasture, when he hears you, he'll usually come trotting or cantering to come say hi. It saves me some walking time. :)
He is extremely easy to tack up. He stands still to be groomed/brushed and is not the least bit cinchy. He even has the courtesy to open his mouth up for you when bridling. Every time I ride, I pick out all four feet, and on the hot days I'll give him a bath afterwards. For the dozen or so shows we have attended in the past, I have been able to clip him everywhere with no twitch required.
Zii has experience. First of all, he could load and unload with his eyes closed. As far as trail riding, he is a proven expert. We have been camping four times in the last year and half, and he pickets like a pro. We actually just got back from Brighton aug 9, and earlier this year we trailered our horses all the way down to southern Illinois (12 hrs) to Shawnee National Forest for a week. Needless to say he did great each time. Sometimes we just ride around the farm, down the roads, or through open fields, but most of the time we'll trailer out to close parks like Maybury, Kensington, Brighton, or the marshes. We'll usually ride all day, bring our bathing suits, swim with the horses, and then barbeque. He is not a spooky horse at all, and on the trails we even like to chase deer. Zii is traffic safe --motorcycles, semis, sports cars, and tractors don't faze him, however he is not a huge go-cart fan. He has actually been ridden from South Lyon all the way to Livonia before and did great. In the winter I had my nieces, nephews, and friends come out and Zii gave everyone sled rides dashing through the snow. He neck reins, backs up, and responds very well to seat and leg pressure. I've let beginners ride him when we go out in a group on the trails walk/trot, but if someone were to take him, out alone w/t/c I would feel better if they had some experience. He's not barn sour or herd bound at all, but all horses can think for themselves at times.
Whether we're in an arena or on the trails we like to jump. We've jumped courses up to 3ft, and if you're looking for an honest jumper, here he is. Zii knows both leads and is an extremely brave horse. Rarely do I ever have to worry about him dodging or stopping in front of a jump. He is a very confident and scopey jumper, and will go over just about anything you point him at with a kick. We've been to about a dozen open shows and have been jumping at the shows between 2"3'-2"9'. Zii isn't a seasoned school /lesson pony that 50 little kids have bounced around on. I've been his primary rider, and would say he would perform best in the hunter/jumper arena with an intermediate rider or someone with experience jumping. If you sit up and ride him well, you're guaranteed to place. He strives to please.
Zii is a gorgeous gelding that is a blast to ride and work with. He is a very talented and versatile horse that could be someone's faithful trail mount or someone else's honest hunter/jumper. I have decided to put my horse up for sale because I want this to be my last year at U of M, and so I'm taking 18 credit hours fall and winter semesters. I'll be left with virtually no time to ride him, and he's too talented with too much potential to sit in a feild waiting for me. I want zii to go to a great home where he will get lots of attention and love. If you decide to sell him, I want first right too buy him back. Please contact me once you have read the short novel (srry) and I'll be glad to answer any questions. I have tons of pictures and videos, these are just a few. Thanks Lucie (734) 536-7377
