Sammy was purchased a bit over two years ago in 'the valley' (west/wet side of Oregon) and his owner was told he was turning 5-years-old and had been very easy to start and train. He is a handsome, straight and well-muscled palomino who gets pale in the winter months but sheds out a beautiful dappled gold in late spring. He was brought home to central Oregon and enjoyed on the trails until his owner's serious health issues curtailed her riding. She hates to sell Sammy; but has come to realize that she likely won't be able to ride again.... (read more) Sammy is friendly, sweet, trusting, and enjoys people and attention. He gets along nicely with other horses, is easy to catch when turned out, is good with the farrier and loads and hauls nicely (his owner took him horse-camping several times). He was trained to neck rein, is responsive to leg cues, and is easy to bridle and saddle, with nice ground manners. Because Sammy hasn't been ridden hardly at all in the last two years, he may be silly or act spooky now, until he is worked with a bit. The photos above with a rider were just taken this June and Sammy was a gentleman when saddled, mounted and ridden around the arena a bit for the pictures. Sammy is a nice, sound, healthy and kind young gelding who needs a tune-up with someone who wants a long-term new buddy to enjoy on the trails, take to small shows or maybe start into a future in 4H or as a High School Equestrian mount. He is current on his shots, worming and hoof trims and lives in La Pine, Oregon.
