If you are serious about trail riding, need a confident, safe mount with size and substance, want an animal who will get on down the trail and keep up with the mules and gaited horses without any prodding, who will cross water and who is the TRUE meaning of Mammoth, Reelfoot Mai (aka Ivy) is the girl for you! She is a 5 year old, 15.1HH registered and microchipped mammoth jennet who does all of the above and then some.
She is good with her feet, has been trimmed and dewormed regularly and is current on vaccinations. Ivy also has been trained to do obstacles and cross water. She LOVES attention, is bright and never has 'sticky feet', yet, she is quiet and easily ridden by anyone. Ivy will confidently ride out alone and has been exposed to traffic, dogs, motorcycles, bicycles, baby carriages and assorted other frightening events without a fuss.
These great donkeys don't come around everyday and she is only available because she just got too big for her current owner.
She loads and trailers well, ties quiet, has camped and high lined great. She loves to have her ears rubbed.........which can take some time as her ears are HUGE!!
Ivy has a nice soft lope and a little slow gait when encouraged as well as the aforementioned ground covering walk.
She is the perfect animal for the trails.
Donkeys like Ivy are few and far between. More pictures available upon request.
