Zalee (C Jays Cotton) is a beautiful 4 year old registered paint mare. As a 2 year old, Zalee allowed the cat to ride her, pulled a calf sled full of firewood for me, and was started very gently under saddle. She was taken on very short solo trail rides beside the highway (about 1 mile per ride) and was very mellow and didn't seem to care or notice anything. When Zalee turned 3yrs old, she was switched mostly to english and was ridden once/twice a week.... (read more) Zalee was ridden in a parade and didn't spook at anything. She was very patient and was happy. In August 2011, she attended her first horse show (schooling show). She was shown in English Showmanship as well as Jr. Horse English Pleasure. She was the youngest horse there with the least experience, so didn't place. At the age of 4 years, Zalee has had 38 days pro western training in March/April. She was worked at moving off the leg, bending, and just the basics. She had all of the winter off and needed a good refresher. As of right now, Zalee needs a lot of work and an intermediate-advanced rider to bring her to her full potential in the show ring. She has a passion for jumping and enjoys trails a lot. To be honest, Zalee needs more work than I can offer or afford. She is a sweet mare, but has a stubborn streak that I am not sure how to deal with. The trainer said that she got a lot better with it when she was worked, but I am never home to work with Zalee anymore. I live 2.5hrs away from home and soon, I am headed off to college. It's not fair to Zalee when someone could be using her and teaching her. She needs a strict hand, I think. I wish I had the time, but I don't.
