Additional Comments:
This very gentle gelding is a pleasure to be around. He has been handled extensively by kids aged 3 to 16, and has no mean bone in his body. He has not ever attempted to bite or kick. No vices at all. Texas has very soft gaits, walks, trots and lopes off without problems, and he stops nicely. He also guides very well. He is fast, and would make an excellent playday horse. We also took him on trail rides, and he just loves it, he crosses water, fallen trees etc, and doesn't spook at cars or anything else. My 11 year old who has been riding for about a year now can handle him without any problems. I consider him a safe kid's horse, but he would probably not be suitable for a small child to learn how to ride on, because of his speed and responsiveness. He is also very well mannered on the ground, knows a lot of groundwork, stands for farrier, and loads easily. This gelding would be perfect for a kid who likes to trail ride, or take him to speed events. Texas got his name because of the markings on the left side of his body, which actually looks like the state of Texas, very unique. Come have a look at this one, you will fall in love!
