Name That Foal!
Denkai Animal Sanctuary is a not for profit 501(c)3 organization working to promote healthy environments in which people and animals interact and connect through applied, environmental, and educational programs to cultivate mental and physical health.
Sanctuary workers came to the aid of two BLM mustang mares with two 5 day old colts at their side on Thursday, July 12th. These horses, even these little tiny babies were scheduled to be the victims of a shooting had the Sanctuary not stepped in. These little babies are so special to us; we want to share them with you. The Sanctuary is seeking a name for these special youngsters and inviting children aged 10-17 nationwide to submit their essays!
Contest Rules and Regulations
Eligibility: Children aged 10-17 years throughout the United States
Deadline for Submissions: Postmarked by October 13, 2007
Rules
1.
Each essay should be type written or hand written and legible and no longer than 300 words.
2.
Each essay should be the sole product of the child's work.
3.
Submissions should include the writer's name, age, grade, school/home school, home address, home telephone, parent e-mail address, teacher and teacher e-mail address. Winners will be notified by telephone.
4.
Children may enter up to two times only. Entries will not be returned and may be saved for future use by the Sanctuary. Name and personal information of children will not be given out to any other organization and will remain with Denkai Animal Sanctuary only.

Essays along with a donation of $5.00 cash or check should be submitted to Denkai Animal Sanctuary by mail at:

Two first place and two second place winners will be chosen and notified by telephone by November 1, 2007. Winners will be published on our website with their winning essays by November 1, 2007. Donations submitted will be used towards feeding and care of the two foals.
Each essay should include:
* The foal that is being named. Foals shall be referred to as: Foal #1 (Paint) and Foal #2 (Sorrel)
* Suggested name of one of the foals and which foal that name is being
suggested for.
* Brief history (one paragraph) regarding mustang horses in America.
* One thing that children have done to help another person, animal, or the earth recently.
* Why they feel that their essay should be chosen, i.e. what special meaning does this name hold for them?
Submissions will be judged on originality, creativity and kindness shown towards another person, animal or the earth.
Prizes
Winners are encouraged to visit the Sanctuary.
Each first place winner will receive a Breyer Horse Model, an engraved plaque with a photo of the foal that they helped to name and $100.00 along with a personal thank you letter from their newly named foal.
Two Second Place winners will each receive a certificate of recognition for their essays and $50.00.
