I picked this mare up at a sale a few weeks ago with intent to make her into a barrel racing/gymkhana mare and have since realized why she didn't cut it at the racetrack. She has NO interest in doing anything more than leisurely trail riding and going around the arena like a hunter or pleasure horse. She's an AQHA registered quarter horse mare, 5 years old, 15.3, if not taller, haven't put a stick on her yet. AQHA records indicate winnings of $6200, and she has her ROM in racing as well. The best I can figure is she was racing Miniature Horses or amputees to be able to win ANYTHING, but I suppose she could be different in a track-setting. I was told she just weaned a foal in October and was trail ridden her entire pregnancy, so she might give someone a nice race-bred baby or a barrel foal of their own if you can find a stallion with a better work-ethic and a desire to do something OTHER than jog around, but unless you're one heck of a trainer, she's just not going to be going anywhere quickly herself. She'd make a VERY cute hunter jumper, she doesn't get hot about anything and prefers to go around the pen like a nice show mare. We've shown her crossrails and 18" verticals, she LOVED them, so she's got some potential there, just not with what I want to do. She came off the track sound, still 100% sound and sane in every way, she's got EXCELLENT ground manners, and is UTD on everything with a current negative Coggins for 2011.
