Additional Comments:
Houston is a coming 3 year old quarter horse gelding who just hasn't grown much due to the rescue situation he was pulled from last August. Since he came here, he's been brought up to date on all shots, deworming, farrier work (still needs a few more corrective trims before he's back to 100% normal, he had never EVER seen a farrier until he came here), and veterinary care (he was gelded in October). He's been taught to lead, tie, load and unload in the trailer, lunge, and has been saddled and bridled several times and been leaned across by a lightweight rider with no drama at all. Houston WAS sold to a nice family as a companion and learning project for their children, but due to an unexpected illness diagnosis with one of the parents, he came back so I could make sure he ended up in another good (but more permanent) home. We'd like to wait until mid-winter/early spring to start backing him as he's currently 13.2 at the withers, and 14 hands in the hip, hoping he'll grow a little more and be a large pony. He's a VERY cute mover, extremely long and flat in front, and will make a fancy hunter pony if he stays under 14.2 (vet says he probably will). Houston is VERY friendly, extremely quiet, and will make a great all-around training project for a first-time trainer. He's very receptive to new things and will be a confidence builder for someone wanting to try natural horsemanship methods to start their own horse. He gets along great with mares, geldings, other young horses, dogs, guinea hens, donkeys and just about anything else you throw at him, but he IS low-man on the totem pole. He is by Watch Sonny Shine (an own son of Sonny Dee Bar), but we know nothing about his dam and cannot get papers due to the rescue situation he came from. He's had a very rough start in life, but is on the right track and looking for his new family to love him and give him a job! If you can help Houston out, please give me a call and we can talk! I am asking $450, but am open to reasonable offers as long as the situation is right for him. I know horses aren't bringing much going into winter, but I need the space here for other starvation cases that will be popping up soon (now that hay prices are going up), and Houston needs a career. Thank you! Jackie: (248) 836 8270
