Ruby is funny, friendly, sweet, brave, curious, super intelligent, willing to do whatever you want her to. She leads, loads, rides, stands for the farrier, the vet, tacking up and mounting. She's just four years old and has been trail ridden by my children extensively in the Cherokee National Forest all summer long and on several ALL NIGHT moonlight rides. She ponies and packs, swims, follows and rides alone. She's not afraid of motorcycles, cars with headlights, car horns from those not-so-considerate drivers, horse drawn buggies, motorized wheelchairs, bicycles, unruly stallions on wagon trains or DOGS. She will charge a dog if it enters her paddock and probably stomp and try to kill it if she gets a chance but will stop in her tracks if you yell "RUBY NO!" She has never killed or injured anything since I've had her (but she has tried!!) I feel very safe with my kids riding her! My 22-year old niece has always been afraid of horses but loves to ride Ruby! She says she feels safe because she knows Ruby would rather stand and fight than take off and run which is what scares her about riding horses. She is not head shy, ear shy or camera shy. She loves Gatorade, frozen bottles of water, half flat basketballs she can bite and kick and oatmeal cookies. She is 14.1 HH and will probably not get much taller. I hope she does not get any fatter! Ruby loves to go and will come when she's called and drops her head for the halter. We've trained her with natural horsemanship techniques and lots of praise. She flexes easily, parks out, yields her hind quarters and gives to pressure. Here is a quick video of her getting shoes put on Ruby Getting Shoes on 2
and here is a link to a whole bunch of mule pictures of her and my other mules . . . https://picasaweb.google.com/108312297439723755558/GusAndFriends?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCMO4mpGMm779nwE&feat=directlink Ruby is the only sorrel mule I have so you can find her pretty easily. I just have too many and Ruby ends up left alone a lot because I don't have anyone to ride her. (My niece is pregnant!)
I found a fabulous shipper who has unbelievably low rates, is super nice, carries a full first aid kit, provides hay, water and electrolytes if needed and really cares about the animals.
