Richie comes to us from one of our favorite trainers. She's a sweet, fun-loving girlie-girl who is part surfer chick (cool and laid back) and part jock (great worker with a can-do attitude). She's been retired from racing for only a month, so is just starting her retraining.
Richie has not yet ceased to amaze us with her excellent ground skills. On day two off the track, she cross tied for the farrier and never moved a muscle while he trimmed her feet and put on her new shoes. She again stood ho have her legs and ears trimmed while her mane was being braided. Again, never moved a muscle. She's very easy to work with, is quiet in the barn, and has no vices.
Ricihie has had minimal riding since joining us at A Pinch of Luck, but has shown herself to be a good worker. Her work ethic is excellent--she's self-driven and clearly wants to understand what's being asked of her. As soon as she's clear, she gets at it whole heartedly and gives it her best shot.
Though still coming down from life as a racer, her gaits are very attractive. She has nice reach through her shoulder and already moves freely at the walk, trot, and canter. She shows a nice long stride with moments of very pretty suspension. Her canter stride is long and very much effortless.
Richie is a fantastic young mare just waiting for the right person to help her become the best that she can be. Super cute, totally willing, and ready for anything!
