Howdy was lightly started as a long two-year-old; turned out to mature a bit and then brought back in to get more riding time and training at three. Howdy has a really cute head; nice, balanced conformation; straight well-boned legs and solid feet which have never needed shoes. Howdy is well-broke and has been enjoyed in a snaffle, mild curb bit and a hackamore occasionally on the trails. He neck reins well, can side pass over or through obstacles, goes through water, and carefully negotiates boulders or stepping over deadfall logs.... (read more) He has a nice rapid walk, soft jog, comfortable rocking-horse lope and has been enjoyed on the beach, up in the mountains and taken on 10-day-long horse camping trips. He has been used to gather cattle, has met pigs and llamas, and high-lines, hobbles and respects electric fencing. Howdy is happy outside with shelter or is comfortable in a box stall (where he is very tidy) as long as he has plenty of turnout or daily work. He LOVES to go to new places, explore and stay busy since he is intelligent. Definitely not the right fellow for a beginner or someone who wants to let their horse sit around for a week or two and THEN go for a nice little ride. Howdy will be happiest with someone who LOVES to RIDE and work with their horse daily or at least two or three days a week. Being an 8-year-old, he has his whole life ahead of him to spend with the right new owner/partner. Howdy is sound, healthy, up-to-date on all shots, worming and hoof care and lives by Sheridan, OR.
