Chester is gorgeous... he is exactly what most Paint horse breeders strive to produce. He is beautifully colored; has correct conformation; excellent bone with short cannons; good solid feet; a pretty head; muscular hindquarters and MOST IMPORTANT, a GOOD mind. Chester was purchased as a yearling and allowed to mature physically to be lightly started by a professional at three. He was a 'good boy' - never offered to buck and was a quick learner and a willing student.... (read more) When brought home, Chester spent the next few years moseying along trails and getting some more arena training at home. He knows to give lightly in the bridle, moves off leg, backs nicely and has either a soft, slow jog or can stretch it out into a nice posting trot. In 2008 Chester became the granddaughter's lesson horse (as shown in the photos above). He was trustworthy, kind and helped the young girl to learn to ride on a TALL horse with confidence. Chester's owner has decided to offer him to a more active, LOVING new home since he kept growing and matured at a good solid 16 hands; he is just TOO tall for "Grandma" to climb onto these days. Chester has gone out on the trails by himself quite a bit and has never been spooky. If something really SCARY comes up, he might jump in place, but has never really shied and never bolted. He has excellent ground manners but DOES have a sense of humor and will sometimes turn on his 'Dennis The Mennis' personality to see if he can get under your skin... He has always had excellent care and been kept current on his shots, worming, trims, etc. He is an easy keeper and LOVES his feed; his knowledgeable owner has made sure than his favorite 'cookies' (black licorice, then apples or carrots) have not been fed by hand, but in a pail. Chester is good in cross-ties; loads and hauls quietly in a straight load trailer; and has NEVER been unsound, nor lame nor coliced. Chester needs a quiet, fairly knowledgeable new owner - he is much too smart for a true beginner and would have a timid person buffaloed in short order; never mean at ALL - but toying with someone to get his OWN way. Chester has SO much potential to explore and experience new adventures and disciplines with an active new owner... His owner loves him dearly and realizes that she is just not doing him justice these days and Chester deserves to have a more fun and interesting life in the future. Chester is healthy and sound, has done great barefoot for the last two years and lives by Scio in Oregon.
Assure YOUR horse goes to a truly APPROPRIATE new long-term home.
