When you see Malachi for the first time, you may be a little intimidated by his sheer massiveness. You also may be a little leery of getting too close to him because the boy is HUGE!! However, once you conquer the fear and get up close and personal with him, you will forget how big he is and start thinking of him as a giant blonde puppy dog!! If Malachi ever had a mean bone in his body, it was broken a long time ago. His name means "the messenger", and we truly believe that he is a messenger/spokesperson for the wonderful world of giant drafts.... (read more)
Malachi is a 17.3h, 2600lb, unregistered, but purebred, roan Belgian gelding. He is 13yrs old, and broke, broke, broke!! His previous owner told us that the day she went to try him, her 4yr old grandchild went with her and insisted on riding him. She did, he was perfect, and he was sold. She took him to a town parade and carried a flag with him 2 days later, and he performed perfectly...no spooks, nervousness, or concerns. He is also not afraid of dogs, tarps, cars, trucks, horns, or anything else. A perfect trail horse, in other words!! The only reason she gave him up was because she had no time for him and he's too good of a horse to just stand around.
Malachi has awesome ground manners; a child can handle him. He leads, loads, trailers, stands for grooming, baths, fly spray, and cookies, and stands for tacking up. His only vice is that he's not great with his feet. We believe he has always been stocked to trim and just doesn't know how to balance well, so he pulls his feet away, but not in a mean way. He is learning though, and gets better every time we work with him.
Malachi is also known as "Mr. Bubbles" for his floaty, to die for, smooth trot. Once you ride this amazing guys trot, you will be spoiled forever for every other horse on the planet. It's truly a work of art... He is extremely light mouthed and although he needs a little encouragement to pick up the pace, he does so willingly. He's got power steering, great brakes, and his back up works too.
He is sweet, gentle, friendly, willing, and honest. He is a dream horse for sure!! If you can sit upright in a saddle, you can ride this horse. We do not recommend him for a child because of his size, but a child can ride him with adult supervision. He'd be perfect to lead around with all the kiddos hanging on him, or as a therapy horse, or as a husband safe, city slicker horse. Honestly, we can't say enough good things about this incredible guy.
If you are in search of your perfect dream trail/parade horse, then you have to come meet Malachi... He's got a message for you... :)
