Delilah was saved from New Holland on 11/15/10. She is a mustang and in 14 yrs I'm not sure she was ever handled. Her hooves are in decent shape, so they've been done but she's very scared of people. I have been able to pet her alittle and hand feed her but that's it so far.
Update 11/18/10 - We were able to get a halter on her and she did pretty well for it.
Update 11/19/10 - Bob has been working on teaching her to lead and she's learning little by little.... (read more) She's getting easier to catch too as long as you have grain.
Update 11/20/10 - The burrs in her mane were actually causing a good deal of pain and she wouldn't stand for us to pick and brush them out so Bob had to cut them out. Now we just need her to stand still long enough to even out her mane so it's not so choppy and goofy looking. We are also thinking she has limited sight so we might end up being a permanent resident along with her "seeing eye horse, Rain".
Update 12/15/10 - She followed me around today as I was picking up buckets :) I couldn't catch her though because she took her halter off the other day but it was too cold to really do any training today anyways.
Adoption fee is FREE and she will go on a transfer of ownership.
Stormy Knights Rescue
We buy horses directly from slaughter feedlots and at auction to save them from slaughter. They will then go up for adoption when they are ready. We will NOT adopt to dealers. We are a hobby rescue only, not a 501(c)3.
