Hershey is a wonderful smaller horse that has been used in the English show ring for 4H and fair with kids. Her previous owner was a 14 year old that had been working with her since she was 8, where she did the English circuit--not sure how she did or if she won any ribbons.... (read more) Has potential to be a winner in the future though! I purchased her for my children to learn on and began her on western pleasure, which she has accepted quite well, with the intent to show her with my son. We still primarily two-handed reign her, but I was trying to teach her neck reigning. Unfortunately, I just don't get out to work with her as much as I would like, and consistency is key. And my older kids are only here every other week, and our travel schedule has been awful.
The most important factor here is she goes to a good home that will love her and ride her and take care of her. She likes to be with other horses, but was a lone horse at the previous owner's home. She's very affectionate and gives kisses and hugs with her head, loves kids, dogs, you name it. Absolutely no vices or temper problems. She does not shy away from other animals, people, or fireworks (when the neighbors set them off for July 4th). Loads well, clips well, fly sprays well, adores being groomed, and accepts the vet care.
She is UTD on shots, wormings, coggins, and had her teeth floated in March. I have her vet records available from the time I got her in early 2010. I will have her feet done again this week if I can get the ferrier out, possibly next week at the latest (week of August 8th).
I hate to see her go, but she needs to be with someone who can easily ride her daily or at least multiple times a week rather than just go to waste out in the pasture. She is husband-safe (quite literally, my non-riding husband rides her too) and my 8 year old son rides her, as does my 3 year old on a lead line. But, with my schedule, I'm only out there once a week and I have 2 other horses that I have to ride, so usually she's the last one to be ridden if at all. I rode her yesterday and so did a prospective buyer's daughter (8, about 60 pounds) and she was excellent for not having been ridden since the end of June.
Please feel free to call me at 269-277-0689 (my name is Angela) if you have any questions. I believe that honesty is the best policy, as I don't want her going somewhere without them knowing everything there is to know about her! Come out to see her, you'll fall in love--I promise.
