Additional Comments:
Riot came to us as a rescued horse along with 6 others. He was extremely malnourished and underweight. He had deep cuts on the back of his hooves from barb wire and he had no experience of being around people. We began working with him right away getting him healthy again. As he gained weight we began teaching him the basics. And he has continued to improve for a year. At first we really wanted to keep him but financial hard times have hit us and we simply do not have the money to keep him or the time he deserves for further training.
A year later he is extremely friendly and loves people. He has been gelded and trimmed for the first time. The farrier was a new experience for him but he did great for his first time and it went smoothly. He could put on just a little more weight but he is healthy and up to date on wormer. As he grew and gained weight we concluded that he had some draft in him. I do not expect him to get much over 15 hands but he will be very stocky and well built. He has the traditional long curly draft mane and tail.
He comes if you whistle for him. He leads and loads into trailers without a problem. He will stand while tied. He loves being groomed and stands very well while being saddled. We have had the saddle on him several times and we have sat on top of him several times so he can get the feel for a rider but that is as far as we have gone with him so far when it comes to riding. I think that he will be a very easy horse to break. He's already off to a great start.
